We went to Cedar Falls, IA to shoot a trail ride. While we were waiting for them to return we shot this barn in the horizon with golden corn stalks in the fore front. Isn't it lovely. ;)

Jenn-Air - Sept. 18 & 19, 2008

August 24, 2008 continued

After our auction shoot we went to the host, Dennis Brouse's house, and went trail riding. Burt took us on a trail around the farm. I look like I know what I'm doing, I don't, I'm a city boy.

We shot a yearling auction. Yearlings are one year old horses and these horses were thoroughbreds being sold for horse racing. These horses were very skittish.
It was held at the state park in Des Moines, IA.

We covered a Polo Match. It was pretty cool, it was for a childrens charity.

We decided to go shoot some b-roll of a bridge in Madison County. You know 'The Bridges of Madison County.'
We Trudged through water, anything for the shot, Right! Ines, the producer of the series, didn't make the shot. Bad camera work I suppose.





I looked down at the rocks and there it was.

We went to a farm where the family breeds and trains palomino horses.
The have beautiful golden coats with blond manes. I got a little close while they were grazing.
One decided to check me out, I got a little scared.

We went to an arena in Waterloo, Iowa where people were warming up for a cutting event.
Cutting is when your horse mimics the cows every move...I know!
The one picture is cattle running through the pen into the arena.

We visited a 1900 Farm with working horse plows from that era. It was really cool.
I am seriously becoming one with horses! ;)
We ate at a diner and this is how they pour the shakes.

We went to a farm that teaches hunter jumping.

We went to a local horse farm in Solon, Iowa that trains Gaited Horses.
For lunch we went to Joesyes, which is known for Iowas biggest pork chop.

After the horse aution we went to a grocery store to buy some local foods. Notice the gas lamps.

We shot at a horse aution in Kalona, Iowa. Kalona is a heavily populated Amish community.
At the horse aution it was mayheim, they aution off hundreds of horses.
